The high tower collapsed; axis mundi (was) scattered
Warriors failed their forts, ships lost their lighthouse
Tower was struck by lightning, (brave) men have fallen (to the face of the earth)
The column departed both sides, souls lost the throne
Never learnt this third falling soon overwhelmed by another building.
Like the hanged man, we are encaged invertedly.
Climbing onwards led to punishment for pride;
While falling means lifting.
Upon the earth, peoples were scattered and locked:
Empires build ramparts;
tribes behind fences;
families in their houses;
Individuals are divided by words (barriers).
Each word a brick, each one a prisoner.
Understanding has lost its logic of existence long time ago,
I walk down the stairs, in quest of this inverted tower.
Dweller on the Threshold - Death waves (his) golden scythe;
Guardian of Heavens - Angels spread (their) dark wings.
Cast a glance at the arrow – blood still dripping after one thousand years.
Their faces are twisted by slighting and harsh laughter:
“Go! Look at the remains of your wise men (/sages)!”
In a sea of symbols, wasteland of misapprehension.
Echoing countless sayings and principles, but go for naught.
Beneath the downhole of well-tower, not a piece of bone left (in sight).
Only words are flying, forever and ever and ever... and ever... and ever...

“有物混成,先天地生。寂兮寥兮,独立而不改,周行而不殆,可以为天地母。吾不知其名,强名曰道。”
"There was something undefined and complete, coming into existence before Heaven and Earth. How still it was and formless, standing alone, and undergoing no change, reaching everywhere and in no danger (of being exhausted)! It may be regarded as the Mother of all things. I do not know its name, and I give it the designation of the Tao (the Way or Course)."
“无名,天地之始;有名,万物之母。”
"(Conceived of as) having no name, it is the Originator of heaven and earth; (conceived of as) having a name, it is the Mother of all things."

“如此清静,渐入真道;既入真道,名为得道,虽名得道,实无所得;为化众生,名为得道;能悟之者,可传圣道。”
——《太上老君说常清静经》
"Always reflect in such a way, yet remain tranquil constantly, then it is the Constant Purity and Tranquility. By keeping such purity and tranquility, one will gradually enter into the true Tao. When the true Tao is entered, that is called the Achievement of Tao. Though it is called the Achievement of Tao, there is actually nothing to achieve, just in order to enlighten living beings, it is called the Achievement of Tao. To those who can understand this with the heart of their true self, the sacrosanct Tao can be imparted."
- Sutra of Pure and Calm
“道终不可得。彼可得者,名德不名道;道终不可行。彼可行者,名行不名道。”
——《文始真经》
"Tao cannot begotten in the end. The one who can get is virtue instead of Tao; Tao is not feasible in the end. The one who is feasible is behavior instead of Tao."
- Guan Yinzi

Ἡ εἰκών was an impressive debut, but way too short! Luckily, Ψευδομένη arrives to satisfy the urge for more of what made its precedessor hit hard and fast: some atmospheric moments (don't be deterred as this is still brutal, dissonant and disgusting to the core) and at the same time, J.L. is exploring longer tracks - e.g. my personal favourite - and implementing some cavernous lows. If there's one thing we can all agree on, it's most likely that this man refuses to stand still. What a pace! David Fischer

Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end. sachavonkarl74
